   Instructional Classes and Seminars

   

Whether you seek to make meditation part of your daily life or simply want to learn more about this profound practice, we have instructional classes to fit your needs.

Meditation is our specialty: It's the central component in nearly everything we do at Ananda. The time-tested techniques we offer are grounded in ancient traditions yet immediately practical for modern needs. Our meditation instructors have personally practiced these techniques every day (usually twice a day) for at least ten years. Some have been meditating for almost three decades and continually draw inspiration and guidance from others who have meditated for half a century.

We would love the opportunity to share this experience with you through the following classes, most of which includes appropriate support materials. And even if you've learned to meditate elsewhere, we also invite you participate in our group meditations to support your ongoing practice.

 Meditation for Starters

One evening class, $30, Plus Textbook

Would you like to begin a meditation practice? Are you wondering how meditation works and what its benefits are? If you would like to overcome a restless mind, tension, physical or mental ailments, meditation will help. This class will give you tools for stilling the body and mind, essentials for meditation.

Textbook: How to Meditate by John Novak, or Meditation for Starters by Swami Kriyananda

 Developing an Inner Life: The Foundation of Daily Meditation

Four 2-hour classes, $125 Plus Materials

If you're serious about bringing meditation into your daily life, this is the course for you. Learn how to develop and maintain a daily practice using proven, universal techniques for relaxing the body, calming restless thoughts, concentrating the mind (the Hong Sau technique), opening the heart, and expanding inner awareness. Classes include guided practice and time to discuss your questions.

 Deepening the Inner Life

Four 2-hour classes, $125 (plus materials, see below).

A follow-up course to our four-week meditation class to help you go deeper into your meditation practice with the understanding of energy and magnetism and their applicability to the spiritual path.
