I am about 10 miles from your new site and have no clues about what perhaps local folks might be incluede; residency, classes, membership, etc. I am Episcopalian and happy with this; however I feel isolated from interaction with learning yoga, meditation, sharing resources, etc. I have a friend who lives in a shared community in West Portland and so love how this works. It is not a spiritual commune, but a nice way to live. I am looking forward to becoming aquainted; I was so thrilled when I read the local paper article and went over on the 4th to walk the old campus. My German heritage was the Volga German pacifists who immigrated to the Western hemisphere. Some became Seventh-Day Adventists and my mother was SDA. I remember my g-grandfather who was a little boy coming from Russia in the 1860s-------he became a SDA circuit rider preacher and lived to be nearly 100 years old. They practiced customs that I believe will be comfortable and compatable with your community. Welcome to the community in the country.

After learning some of Paramhansa Yogananda's many exquisite teachings, I spent 10 years doing the practices on my own because I did not live near an Ananda community. After recently moving to Portland and attending Sunday services, the Raja yoga class, and other activities, I feel as though I become more alive every day and there is a new depth to my practice that is beyond words. It is such an honor and so powerful to be a member amongst the Ananda community, learn from our radiant and welcoming teachers, and to feel like I just arrived home.

Thank you, Ananda Portland and our dear Guru, Paramhansa Yogananda.
