As you may have noticed, the chairs and pews in our Ananda Temple and Teaching Center have been well used over the years, and have begun to slip away one by one to the great rest home for retired seats in the sky. But fear not, no one will lose at musical chairs and have to sit on the floor (unless they want to). Eleven worthy replacement candidates have been shipped by the chair company for our consideration!
When you look at the chairs on this page and in the sanctuary, try not to “judge a book by its cover.” The colors, patterns, widths, heights and doodad appendages (for song books, etc.) are interchangeable. We will mix up the best combination of all such traits and apply them uniformly to the chairs we order when the final selection is made. Yes, all that need matter to you now is which chair rates highest in the “tush test” after you have sat upon them all!
To help make it easier to vote for the candidate of your choice, we have labeled each chair with the name of one flower mentioned by our Master, Paramhansa Yogananda, in his best known book, Autobiography of a Yogi. Please visit the Temple often and take a load off your feet, sing, contemplate, meditate, and consider which chair makes you want to come and sit again. Then simply fill out a ballot on behalf of your overall favorite under the wall of chair photos in the hall.
