Tyagi Hanuman

Tyagi HanumanHanuman has been an Ananda member since 1981. He moved to Ananda Village in California in 1984, after graduating from Chiropractic College. While living at Ananda Village, he managed Ananda Recordings, worked as an ICU nurse, and ran a successful Chiropractic business. He was ordained a Light Bearer by Swami Kriyananda, In 1989.  In 1991, he and his wife Mari were asked to move to Portland to join the ministry here. In the years since then, he has helped manage the Song of the Rose Café, co-manage the Ananda Community in Portland for 8 years, and co-direct the Ananda Church of Self-Realization for 2 years. He currently works full time as a clinical supervisor for Providence Hospice. Hanuman took his Nayaswami vows as a Tyagi in 2010. He helps teach at Ananda’s teaching center, acts as parish nurse for our congregation, and is writing a book called “Conscious Exits”, based on Swami Kriyananda’s Evening Hospice precepts. He is looking forward to the ongoing project of multigenerational assisted living for our more vulnerable population.
